Loblaw Corporation Comes Through for Horizons for Youth
Horizons for Youth would like to thank Livio Vendramin, Nicole Donaldson, Christina Alviano and Sheri Helman of Loblaw Corporation for a much needed, last-minute donation this past holiday season. Their generous donation helped Horizons for Youth provide food for our youth during the holidays.
Horizons for Youth’s Holiday Drive a Huge Success!
Thank you to all those who donated to Horizons for Youth during the holidays. We received a number of online donations, monetary donations, gently used winter clothing and Holiday presents for our youth from a number of individuals, employee groups and corporations. With your help, we were able to provide our residents and outreach clients with a fantastic meal, presents under the tree and put a huge smile on their faces.
Please let us take this opportunity to thank our wonderful volunteers, who helped in various capacities to make this holiday season enjoyable for our youth. Thank you to Amanda Hanna and her group of 8 volunteers who helped out in the kitchen on Christmas Eve, and also to Chris Brands and Jessica Jeffery who helped out in the kitchen on Christmas Eve night. Thank you also to the Pierson Family and Celeste Thompson who helped out with our Christmas Day dinner, and also to Jay and Ericka, who helped with activities on New Year’s Eve.

Soraya
came to us fleeing an abusive arranged
marriage. She came in a shy girl
who had difficulty looking anyone in
the face. Now she is a college
graduate and works as an executive assistant
at a car dealership.
Richard came to us after his only family, his grandmother,
passed away. Richard had some untreated health issues
as well and at first was very reluctant to see a doctor. Today
Richard is healthy and works with a security alarm company.
Claudia lived on the streets and in shelters for the
better part of 5 years while struggling with her mental
health issues. It took a lot of time to develop
the trust needed to Claudia to get the right kind of
treatment. Today she is the poster child for
a youth apprenticeship program.
