On May 15th, 2010, Horizons for Youth Champion Volunteer, Justin Herten-Greaven, with help from the Development team at Horizons, put on the 2nd Annual ‘Hockey for Horizons’ Charity Ball Hockey Tournament in support of Horizons for Youth at Trinity- Bellwoods Park.
Once again, the event featured 12 teams and managed to raise $14,330.59 through team registration fees, food and beverage sales, a raffle, silent auction, and generous donors. A huge thank you to Justin and his network of family and friends, who donated their time, gifts-in-kind and sponsorship.

Horizons for Youth is excited to announce that our 7th Annual Umbrella Day on Thursday, April 8th, 2010 raised $14,002.87 this year during our one day event. Even with the economy recovering, people still took the time to donate towards a good cause, and for this we are very grateful. Thank you to all those who donated, you have helped us help our youth.
Thank you so much to all staff, Board Members and most importantly our volunteers, who took the time out of their busy schedules to help raise awareness and much needed funds for Horizons for Youth’s programs and services.
Soraya
came to us fleeing an abusive arranged
marriage. She came in a shy girl
who had difficulty looking anyone in
the face. Now she is a college
graduate and works as an executive assistant
at a car dealership.
Richard came to us after his only family, his grandmother,
passed away. Richard had some untreated health issues
as well and at first was very reluctant to see a doctor. Today
Richard is healthy and works with a security alarm company.
Claudia lived on the streets and in shelters for the
better part of 5 years while struggling with her mental
health issues. It took a lot of time to develop
the trust needed to Claudia to get the right kind of
treatment. Today she is the poster child for
a youth apprenticeship program.
