  6. Tribute a gift in memory of someone or in celebration of a birthday or anniversary. Horizons for Youth will send a card to recognize the gift.
  7. Organize your own fundraising event and donate the proceeds to Horizons for Youth. Have a bake sale at work, run a car wash at your neighbourhood gas station, inspire your neighbours or co-workers to develop a committee to run a fabulous fun event in support of Horizons for Youth.
  8. Employer gift match: Find out from your human resources department if your employer matches employee contributions. Challenge them to match your generosity!
  9. Ask your company to make a donation to Horizons for Youth. Most companies have donation programs. We can help by providing you with all the pertinent information your company will need to make a decision to support Horizons for Youth

Umbrella Day Raises $14,000

Horizons for Youth is excited to announce that our 7th Annual Umbrella Day on Thursday, April 8th, 2010 raised $14,002.87 this year during our one day event.  Even with the economy recovering, people still took the time to donate towards a good cause, and for this we are very grateful.  Thank you to all those who donated, you have helped us help our youth.

Thank you so much to all staff, Board Members and most importantly our volunteers, who took the time out of their busy schedules to help raise awareness and much needed funds for Horizons for Youth’s programs and services.

Success Stories Title
Soraya came to us fleeing an abusive arranged marriage.  She came in a shy girl who had difficulty looking anyone in the face.  Now she is a college graduate and works as an executive assistant at a car dealership.

Richard came to us after his only family, his grandmother, passed away. Richard had some untreated health issues as well and at first was very reluctant to see a doctor.  Today Richard is healthy and works with a security alarm company.

Claudia lived on the streets and in shelters for the better part of 5 years while struggling with her mental health issues.  It took a lot of time to develop the trust needed to Claudia to get the right kind of treatment.  Today she is the poster child for a youth apprenticeship program.
