Being homeless, many for the first time, they don't know where to turn. The kids who come to Horizons are confused and afraid. The "thrill" of the street life doesn't last long and the reality usually dissuades even the most adventurous teenager. Being 16, homeless and vulnerable means that many people are able to take advantage of you. Not knowing how to survive, they may turn to prostitution, selling drugs, or even worse to make it on the street.

Horizons attempts to get to these kids before this happens.

At Horizons, we give them more than just a bed out of the cold.more than just a hot meal. Horizons for Youth gives them hope; hope of finding a job, securing housing so that they can become independent members of our community. Hope for a positive future.

When they come to our door, many don't know how to budget, rent an apartment or even cook for themselves. At Horizons for Youth, each resident is assigned a one-on-one Case Worker to support them every step of the way. From here, we teach homeless and at risk youth the life skills they need to be able to live successfully on their own.

The kids who come to Horizons don't have to end up living in alleyways, sleeping on grates or park benches. They're young and vibrant and have so much potential. Together, we have a great opportunity and a responsibility to help them to become the best they can be!

With your help, we can give them something they so desperately need, a safe place with supportive staff to help them get their lives on track.

The 2nd Annual Horizons for Youth 'Racing for a Reason' at Woodbine Racetrack SOLD OUT!!
With your help, we managed to meet and surpass our goal of $50,000 for our Woodbine 'Racing for a Reason' Dinner at the Trackside Tent at Woodbine Racetrack. Special thanks to our event organizers Miss. Crystal Mitchell and Mr. John Robertson for their hard work and dedication in making this our most successful event yet. Also, thank you to all the corporate and individual donors and to our staff who made this event a night to remember.

Umbrella Day

Success Stories Title
Soraya came to us fleeing an abusive arranged marriage.  She came in a shy girl who had difficulty looking anyone in the face.  Now she is a college graduate and works as an executive assistant at a car dealership.

Richard came to us after his only family, his grandmother, passed away. Richard had some untreated health issues as well and at first was very reluctant to see a doctor.  Today Richard is healthy and works with a security alarm company.

Claudia lived on the streets and in shelters for the better part of 5 years while struggling with her mental health issues.  It took a lot of time to develop the trust needed to Claudia to get the right kind of treatment.  Today she is the poster child for a youth apprenticeship program.
